Shaken Not Stirred is an organization founded in 2019 with the mission to empower future generations by developing and implementing innovative education projects. Our flagship initiatives include 42 Portugal and TUMO Portugal.
42 is one of the world’s leading coding schools, with over 50 campuses across more than 30 countries. It is a free of charge, inclusive school, open to anyone regardless of academic background or professional experience, based on a peer-to-peer, project-based learning model with no classes, no teachers, and no schedules. In Portugal, 42 Lisboa opened in 2020 and 42 Porto in 2022, and has nowadays 2000 active students with an employment rate above 90%.
TUMO is a creative technologies center founded in Armenia and now present in more than 10 countries. Aimed at young people aged 12 to 18, TUMO is a free of charge program that complements formal education through personalized learning paths in areas such as Programming, Robotics, Animation, Game Development, Music, Photography, and Graphic Design. In Portugal, TUMO centers are already operating in Coimbra, Lisboa and Porto, each with a capacity for 1.500 students, and an ambition to scale even further nationwide.
Shaken Not Stirred is also taking its first steps in international expansion, with the upcoming launch of TUMO Bilbao planned for September 2026.
Alongside these free educational initiatives, Shaken Not Stirred develops professional and entrepreneurship programs, such as the AI Dive for Business, delivered both in partnership with companies (B2B) and directly to individuals (B2C).

ABOUT THE ROLE:
As Legal & Compliance Counsel, you will support the organization across a broad range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters, working closely with leadership and operational teams.
You will be part of the Shaken Finance & People Teams, which oversees the Finance, Legal and People areas of the organization, contributing to the development of solid legal frameworks that support sustainable growth, operational excellence and strong governance across all projects and entities.
This role is central to strengthening legal autonomy, improving operational agility and ensuring strong compliance frameworks, while maintaining collaboration with external legal advisors for specialized matters. You will contribute directly to the sustainability and impact of education and social projects, ensuring legal structures enable growth, partnerships and day-to-day operations in a solid and responsible way.
This is a part-time position (approximately 15 to 20 hours per week), with potential to grow over time.
Main responsibilities include:
Contracting & Legal Documentation
Draft, review and update contracts with partners, sponsors, suppliers, and service providers
Support employment-related legal matters, including amendments and exit agreements, in proximity with the People team
Maintain standardized contract templates and internal legal documentation
Compliance & Regulatory Framework
Ensure ongoing legal and regulatory compliance across all entities and activities
Develop and maintain internal policies, regulations and procedures
Monitor compliance requirements related to operations, spaces and public-facing activities
Data Protection & GDPR
Implement and maintain GDPR compliance frameworks
Draft and update privacy policies, terms & conditions, consent mechanisms and internal procedures
Act as a coordination point for data protection matters
Corporate & Statutory Matters
Prepare and manage corporate documentation such as general assembly minutes, statutory filings and corporate records
Support updates to bylaws and corporate structures
Ensure key legal documents remain up to date (certificates of no debt, RCBE, registrations, statutory documentation, etc.)
Legal Operations & Risk Management
Provide ongoing legal support across emerging legal and regulatory needs of the organization
Coordinate with external legal advisors when specialized support is required
Proactively identify legal risks, compliance gaps and process improvement opportunities
Funding & Institutional Processes
Support the legal structuring and drafting of funding applications, grant documentation and public funding processes
Ensure contractual and compliance obligations associated with funded projects are properly managed
WHAT YOU BRING:
Law degree and professional qualification as a lawyer (or eligibility to practice), with at least 4 years of professional experience in law firms, in-house legal teams or generalist / commercial, corporate legal roles.
Solid experience in contract drafting and review, corporate matters and regulatory compliance, with interest and/or experience in data protection and GDPR.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple legal topics simultaneously in a structured and reliable way.
Hands-on, pragmatic and execution-focused, comfortable taking ownership of legal processes end-to-end rather than working only at a theoretical level.
Curious and proactive in researching unfamiliar legal matters and building practical solutions, including the use of legal tech and AI tools.
Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts into practical guidance for non-legal teams.
Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
